Why sharing one Plus account is a bad idea

When Plus is enough

When to move to Business

What does not change between plans

How to switch a team from Plus to Business

  1. Create the Business workspace with the company email domain and invite the team.
  2. Ask each person to move any custom GPTs or project files they still need into the shared workspace.
  3. Turn on single sign-on if your company uses Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 accounts.
  4. Write a one-page rule on what data may go into ChatGPT and who reviews customer-facing output.
  5. Cancel the individual Plus subscriptions once everyone has moved, so you are not paying twice.

Questions to ask before you decide

A quick decision rule

Count the people who will use ChatGPT for company work at least once a week. If the answer is one, Plus with training turned off is usually enough. If the answer is two or more, or if anyone handles client, employee or financial data, start with Business. The price per person is close, and the admin console, single sign-on and training exclusion are worth more than the difference. Revisit the choice when the team grows or a client asks how you handle their data, because that question is much easier to answer from a Business workspace with a written data rule than from a set of personal accounts.

And Enterprise?

ChatGPT Enterprise adds larger-scale controls, longer context, compliance features and negotiated terms. It is sold through OpenAI's sales team and is aimed at larger organizations. Most small businesses choose between Plus and Business.

Beyond the chat window

Either plan gives your team a strong assistant. The next step is connecting it to your real work: replying to leads, sorting email, filling your CRM. See ChatGPT for small business, our AI automation service, or ask us which plan fits your team through contact.
